Silk Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines and operates scheduled passenger services from Singapore to 26 cities in Southeast Asia, South Asia and China. The airline is the regional wing of Singapore Airlines.
The airline was founded in 1975 as Tradewinds Charter undertake charter flight service from its parent company. It became a regional airline with its first schedule service on 21st February 1989 to Pattaya before adopting the present title on 1st April 1992.
