Turkish Airlines Inc. Türk Hava Yolları Anonim Ortaklığı (THY) - National carrier of Turkey, providing scheduled international and domestic services from Istanbul and Ankara to more than 60 cities, with a strong emphasis on Europe and extending to Central Asia, North Africa, the Middle and Far East, and the United States. The airline was established on 20 May 1933 as Hava Yollari Devlet Isletmesi Idaresi and began operations in August that year. The name was changed to Devlet Hava Yollari in June 1938 and a major reorganization on 20 February 1956 resulted in the creation of Turk Hava Yollari, of which the present title is the English equivalent. Turkish Airline is a member of Star Alliance.
