Designed as a strategic military freighter, the An-124 is the world's largest in-production cargo aircraft. Until the development of the An-225, a stretched six engine derivative, the An-124 was the world's largest aircraft. An-124s are commonly seen while used for outsize cargo charters. The An-124 fuselage has a double-deck layout. The cockpit, the relief crew compartment and the troop cabin with 88 seats are on the upper deck. The lower deck is the cargo hold. Notable features include nose and tail cargo doors, 24 wheel undercarriage allowing operations from semi prepared strips, the ability to kneel to allow easier front loading and a flybywire control system.
