China Airlines

China Airlines 中華航空公司 , the flag carrier of the Republic of China , Taiwan. The airline belongs to China Aviation Development Foundation and not a state-owned airline.

Founded on 10th December 1959 by retired air force officers with only two PBY-5 Catalina flying boats. On 29th May 1968 , it was designated as the national airlines after the demise of Civil Air Transport.

From its base in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei, the airline operates to some 45 cities to Asia, Europe, the South Pacific and North America. Due to political obstacles over the establishment of the Three Links, the airline does not have schedule flights into Mainland China. Passengers travels to Mainland China has to go through a third port like Hong Kong, Macau, Japan or Korea before they're connect to a China-bound flight.
