ARJ21 (Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st cenury)

The latest in China's bid to enter the RJ market, the China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I) ARJ21 (Advanced Regional Jet for the 21st cenury) draws strong influence from China's failed MD-90 Trunkliner program. Two models are planned, the baseline 70 passenger -700 and the 90 passenger -900. Designed to meet the demanding conditions of China’s diverse environment, specifically the "hot and high" conditions of the western provinces, the ARJ21 is billed as an export-ready product. However, the primary market is anticipated to by China.

Highlighting the international flair of this aircraft, GE has been selected to supply the ARJ21's powerplant with its new CF34-10A. Additionally, the wing was designed with assistance from the Antonov Design Bureau.
